A TRUE CUPCAKE SHOP | CUPCAKEN | EXPERIENCE [PHOTOS]

Cupcaken

Cupcaken

–          ★★★ ½

I’ve always loved the feel of a pastry house or any cupcake store just as long as it’s true to its theme and feels at home while chilling with my partner. It’s always good to discover a downtown treat because it goes to show how plentiful of good stuffs there are in town.

And I consider Cupcaken as one of the best out of them cupcake stores.

Cupcaken has variety of cupcake offers that are presented well in their store and which I appreciated due to its welcoming feel and cozy ambiance that differs to one store I’ve been which felt like canteen-ish rather than a cupcake store (But still have oh-so-delicious cupcakes).

Cupcaken

Their cupcakes are worth the buy too which are winners due to its delish frosting, cute designs and variety of flavors that ranges to P60.00 and above. They also have miniature version of their cupcake offers that is cheaper than the original ones but is only available at 2:00-5:00PM every day.

Cupcaken has also drink delights that are complimentary to the cupcakes that are offered from juices to coffees.

Although, I wished the store was located somewhere else that feels safer from ill-doers.

Nevertheless, Cupcaken is located at R. Duterte St., Banawa, Cebu City, street-side, which you will truly enjoy with your friends and family plus a parking lot good for 2-3 cars, perfect for a stop-by chill out.

CUPCAKE IT OUT! | CUPCAKE AVENUE | PASTRIES | EXPERIENCE [PHOTOS]

Cupcake Avenue

Cupcake Avenue Panorama

★★ ½

Besides My partner and I getting hooked to our favorite sitcom, 2 Broke Girls, and besides their indefatigable hit punch lines; we also fancy cupcakes, just like what the lead characters in the sitcom do as their sideline/business.

Being gay does justify the fact that I love anything fancy; and loving cupcakes is not an exception especially for My partner and I.

CUPCAKE AVENUE

Cupcake Avenue has not yet hit the ‘buzz’ around town, and that’s a great thing for both of us, so we can discover anything good and publicize it using my blog. And Cupcake Avenue was one of the few we’ve been who deserves to be known to the public.

Located at E-Zone, Panagda-it, Mabolo, Cebu City; Cupcake Avenue is a novice for cupcake ventures in Cebu.

VENUE

The cupcake store, which when we entered was really, really tiny. I had a hard time filling in the seat gaps to pass. We also noticed the canteen feel of the store; not because of the small space, but because of the wooden counter which was for us a bit inappropriate for a cupcake store.

Cupcake Avenue

We would love to see the bended or slanted glass counter/machine/stand that is usually used to display cupcakes and all their merchandise.

And the store is located at the back most parking lot of E-Zone. You have to walk thoroughly and look at the small sign in order for you to see it because if you don’t, you’d end up walking back out of E-Zone.

I am not BASHING, I’m just suggesting… for the benefit of the store. *wink

CUPCAKES

There are a variety of cupcakes to choose from, and you’d be enthralled by the variety of choices out from different flavors that suits your taste buds. They offer from chocolates to anything mixed but truly exciting!

I’ve had too much thinking time on what will I choose, so was my partner, yet I ended up on a chocolate which did surprise me having a marshmallow burst from inside the topping which I thought was pure chocolate only.

My partner chose the S’mores that has a topping of Hershey’s chocolate on it that looks too much fancy! But my partner knew about S’mores having marshmallows on it but was not present; instead, he said that it was cream at the top rather than the common marshmallow but nonetheless, tastes good.

What I also loved about their cupcakes was the fact that it was softer than what I experienced in Café Caw. Also, I would commend the playful aspiration of cupcake decorations, but I would love to see more unique and enlarged cupcake without hurting the price (if I were to own).

MORE OFFERS!

Cupcake Avenue offers drinks too! And in our case we ordered something yummy.

One is a rocky road treat that is a common taste but for me is OH-SO-DELICIOUS! Is it just me, or I really, really love chocolate.

Then another is their Nutella treat which was a not a common flavor but we do really loved it. I also love the fact that the topped Nutella dripped on the side of the glass which you can see in the picture, which My partner and I also licked for it not to spill over. *wink *wink

VALUE FOR MONEY

The cupcakes range from P49.00 and above. It’s really affordable and it taste so good which I can say; it’s worth it for what we’ve paid.

Their drink treats also ranges from P100.00 and above.

VERDICT

Just a little bit of modification here, and a little bit of class there; this cupcake business will be objectively a chill-out place for the many, with their good offers and great materials (the wall decors and cupcake chairs which was love-love-love); it will be loved by plenty. And YES, I’d love to go back there soon, especially when the owner was really smiley.

They even cater for events too! So, if you have one, their contact number is just below.

Bread After Bread | A Fairytale Story | Pastries Review

I’m a good eater, but I sometimes don’t appreciate sugar coated treats, nor bread. But then, my boyfriend is fond of almost everything he consumes with his mouth (teehee), including pastries. So, inspired by the ABC’s TV Series Once Upon a Time, here’s a tale I have to tell you:

Once upon a time, I and my Prince Charming (boyfie) marched the weary road (H. Abellana street) of tireless carriages (jeepney) to find a spot and have our glamorous lunch. We were so in famine when my Charming suddenly noticed something from afar; a delicacy ménage stood atop of the perfectly carved pedestal, beside an infamous grill place (BBQ BOSS). His eyes grew wider and wetter as he saw magnificence inside that pastry house.

With no halls barred, he crashed the glass doors of the store and overjoyed of seeing all those inanimate delicacies, but for him, it was alive and waving ‘hi, buy me!’ And so he proceeded to the stall where this handful loaf (Ensaymada) stood lonely for it has been there for like a hundred years (jk, just days).

And so, without further ado; my Charming caught with his right hand that poor little loaf and went straight to the counter and paid a silver coin (P49.00) for the Loaf and a quid (P13.00) for what I bought which was a Chocolate Cake (no translations, I really bought a small Chocolate Cake). And floating-like, he went straight out to the door and stood outside triumphant, like he has slayed a dragon!

We went home and did not wait for him to settle down; he then dared open the transparent box that covered the loaf, but I said, “Not yet, Charming… I need to Instagram this sh*t.”

Ensay

Sorry for the ugly shot of the ensaymada

And so he agreed.

He was so much full of excitement, and after he opened the box; he was almost on the grab of it, but then I said, “STOP!”.

He asked, “WHY?!”

I replied, “Two pictures to edit in Photogrid and transfer to Instagram right after, my ghaaa, you’re so not IN.”

*CLICK AGAIN

And right after that, he grabbed the loaf and opened his mouth, and then took a mouthful. His eyes were closed, able to feel all the sweetness in his taste buds. And when he opened his eyes; I did not saw euphoria, instead I saw disappointment and he told me why it was like that.

He said, “I was expecting for the loaf to be soft and squishy! Not rough and hard, like this!”

And so he cried, and cried, and cried. He can’t get no satisfaction. No, No, No.

Back to reality! Okay, so my boyfriend was disappointed with the result of how the bread was worked. The expectation came from the façade of the store which looked really expensive and the ambiance of the store itself inside. The prices were affordable and justifiable; but the loaf and how it was made was painful to realize, just like how it was done in a normal bakery house.

He did not enjoy the ensaymada, although, it tasted good, just like the chocolate cake I bought but also has a hard feel to it.
